Kelly Clarkson & Rachel Ray Spots

Through World Vision’s new Chosen initiative, a 6 year old boy from the hills of Guatemala chose Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond, The Middle, Carol’s Second Act) to be his sponsor.

As a way of introducing her to her sponsor child, I was asked to create two video’s, one for the Kelly Clarkson Show and another for The Rachael Ray Show, that they could use to surprise Patricia with. As you can imagine, little Emmanuel “Meme” won her heart entirely.

Operation Seasweep Pitch

One of the first projects I worked on for World Vision was this mock top-of-funnel ad that would accentuate the “Everyone Needs a Believer” message. This video was to pitch a creative template for a handful of historic videos that highlight the many ways that World Vision has stood in the gap for people in need in times of crisis.

4 Girls

We visiting a safe house in West Pokot, Kenya, we met four young girls you wanted to share their stories of forced child marriage and their harrowing escape that took place after.

Upon hearing each narrative, the commonalities quickly came to the surface and the idea of weaving their stories together into one took form. We wanted to honor each girl, while also displaying that this narrative is far too common in many parts of the world.

Messania’s Story

Format : Docu-drama short film

Runtime : 20min

Public Release : Spring 2021

The film has recently entered the film festival circuit and received and official selection at both the Academy qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF), HollyShorts Film Festival and the St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF). It went on to take the Grand Prize at RIIFF, making an official contender for a 2021 Academy Awards nomination in the documentary short subject category. We are just at the beginning of our festival journey and couldn’t be more ecstatic for the warm reception of the film thus far.

Film Synopsis: A childhood filled with laughter and friends, singing and games—cut short by the circumciser’s knife. Growing up, Messania walked the same path as many young girls from Africa; undergoing female genital mutilation to make her marriageable to a stranger many years older than herself. From her Kenya home, Messania tells the story of how she found the determination to escape abuse, challenge harmful cultural norms, and sing a new song of freedom for herself and other young girls everywhere.

Chosen Launch Video

Some kids have waited years to be chosen by a sponsor. Through World Vision’s Chosen initiative, kids are now given the power to choose.

Although we had a creative team that was working on two sides of the globe for this project, I was tasked with bringing many pieces together to create a launch video for this new model of sponsorship.

Through a great deal of struggle in post production, it slowly but surely became clear that positioning the kids in an empowered place was the way to go.

Global 6k // Thank You!

For the past 5 years, people around the globe have participated in a 6k walk or run to raise awareness and funds towards World Vision’s water projects. Unlike previous years where thousands gather in large cities to join in our Global 6k events, participants took to their neighborhoods during a time of social distancing to ensure that every step they took was one that the kids they were walking and running for wouldn’t have to.

I asked the client to reach out to their participants with some content prompts that they could use to create some user generated content. The videos and still I received would become this years G6K “Thank You!” video.

Spring PSA’s 2019

The work of World Vision has a presence in some of the most impoverished communities around the world. For the 2019 Spring PSA’s, we collaborated with actor Patrick Warburton (Seinfeld, Emperors New Groove, Series of Unfortunate Events) to encourage viewers to “Reach out with us and help empower people to change their own lives for good.”

Chosen : Northside church/Guatemala

In the fall of 2019, Northside Church of New Albany, OH, partnered with World Vision to bring the Chosen sponsorship program to their congregation. In one day, nearly 1,000 church members decided they wanted to sponsor a child from a little village in Guatemala.

I was asked to document the experience as it unfolded in both countries.
